Description: It is quite something to employ 345 people and run a 34.5 million business that people think is public property, but that?s exactly what Alastair MacColl is doing at Business & Enterprise North East Ltd! He and his team are in the business of business development! Working under contract for the RDA, LSC and a number of Local Authorities, they are currently best known for the delivery of Business Link Services and (in these troubled times) innovating to offset the impact of the downturn. However, Business & Enterprise North East also has a wider portfolio, including the North East England Investment Centre and the North East England Supplier Register.
Business & Enterprise North East has a complex group of stakeholders and Alastair doesn?t underestimate the challenge in clarifying who they are, what they do, who their target customers are and how they can continuously improve their services. He is determined to offer his customers (potential and current business owners under the Business Link brand) a streamlined process that has absolute clarity, no duplication and offers a relevant, effective gold standard for business support and skills-development. In numerical terms that means helping 32,000 customers develop business ideas, assisting approximately 4,000 business start ups and brokering services to help long term business development with 10,000 business ?and there?s more. Clear communications will be critical to success and Alastair?s previous life running the Evening Gazette in Middlesbrough is proving a useful apprenticeship in communicating the Business & Enterprise North East vision to make the North East the best place in Europe to start and grow a business!
If you want to learn more about Alastair?s private sector mindset, the business importance of clear communications, the seriousness with which he takes his role, the range of services on offer from Business Link (and how they can best be accessed), what Business Link can do for your business, and/or challenges that face Business & Enterprise North East?s own business development ?this conversation is a must!
